Back to School !

Finally!

Back to School after a long holiday (6 weeks for the kids, 13 years for me).....lol....

Well, I started School yesterday and I must say i am very very happy about going to school again. My fellow students and i are right now adjusting to the new situation and making friends already.

WE are all single-moms and this year of school is all about computers, MS-office, html, ecommerce etc.

The teachers are trying to boost our self-esteem and give us a good basic knowledge about computers and a new chance to find a good job!

Very nice people are in school, indeed!

I am very happy!

My kids:
Donna was sick today and couldn't attend first day of "Back to school", she wasn't very happy about that! She is in 4.Grade now.
Elena went to school singing and laughing and came back as happy as a little bumble-bee.
Elena really takes after her Mum (that's me...lol), she loves going to school and just can't get enough of it. She loves reading and writing, Maths and all..........she is a born learner!....I just can't help but being proud of her. She has started 2. Grade.
Cynthia is on her last year of Kindergarten and very happy to have one year of playing left.
She is now, what they call a "Preschool"-kid in Germany (last year in Kindergarten with special training for "real" school).

Happy Birthday to me?...Definitely!

Yes, today is the BIG DAY: My 32. Birthday!
Woohoo, i love Birthdays!
Especially, when dear Knitter-Friends turn up to celebrate with me. My wool-provider Marianne and Michael and Ute came to knit, talk, eat cake (we had apfelstrudel...yummy) and have fun with me.

Here we are (I am the one in black in the middle):

Donna and Lydia also came by to wish me luck for the "new year" of my life and many many dear friends called to say "Happy Birthday".

My daughter Donna saved her pocketmoney to buy me those expensive, extra luxurious ebony-needles.......she is such a doll!

It was a great day and we laughed a lot and for the time being I could forget all my worries!

Look what I've got......(Schaut mal was ich bekommen hab..)

As you all know (do you?), I am going back to school on Sept. 12 and am going to learn lots of good stuff for computering and interneting, which will "hopefully" make me able to get a better job in the future.
To be honest I am pretty scared though, cause I just can't imagine how i will manage school, housework, homework from school, raising three kids alone (2 of which are going to school too and the third one is in Kindergarten)........okay, well I know how to do that...but all together at once? Oh sheesh........
I talked to a good friend of mine (also called Donna, just as my daughter) about my fears and she encouraged me so much in the past 4 weeks. Yesterday, she came over to wish me good luck once again and brought a litte gift-cone with her.

For this you should know, that preschoolers in Germany, who start with 1. grade, are gifted by their parents, relatives or friends with a huge "Schultüte" (schoolstart-giftcone) on their first day in school.

Since it has been a long time since I have been to school, she thought it would be appropriate to give me a "Schultüte" for my first day as well. I couldn't hold back my tears and was so overwhelmed.......Isn't that just sweet?

Wie ihr alle wisst (wisst ihr das?...*grübel*), fange ich am 12. September wieder mit der Schule an. Ich werde alles über Computer und Internet lernen, das ich später mal im Job brauchen könnte und hoffe so einen guten Job in der Zukunft zu bekommen.
Um ehrlich zu sein, habe ich doch ziemliche Angst vor diesem Schritt, vor allem bei der Vorstellung, wie ich alles unter einen Hut bekommen soll...die Schule, die Hausarbeit, die Hausaufgaben und dann noch die Drei (von denen 2 auch zur Schule gehen und eines in der Vorschule im Kindergarten ist)alleine großzuziehen...naja, alleine erziehen, das geht schon ......aber alles zusammen und möglichst gleichzeitig?....Oh weiah!....

Also hab ich mich bei einer guten Freundin ausge"kotzt", die übrigens auch Donna heißt so wie meine Tochter und sie hat mich ermutigt und immer wieder aufgebaut in den letzten 4 Wochen. Gestern kam sie rüber, um mir nochmals Glück zu wünschen und hat mir eine kleine Schultüte gebracht.

Normalerweise gibt es das ja nur für Schulanfänger, aber ich war ja schon lang nicht mehr zur Schule, also dachte sie das wäre angebracht.

Ich konnte die Tränen nicht zurückhalten, so überwältigt war ich....aber urteilt selbst .....Ist das nicht zuckersüß? (siehe oben!)

Size 26/27 (german size) in a easy to knit knit2, purl2 pattern and that lovely new Rainforest-Wool from Opal called Flamingo.

I think I will become Mariannes best customer on that wool, cause my Mum and my oldest daughter Donna have already "ordered" socks from that wool.

And Cynthia told me, that she "only" needs mittens, scarf and a hat in same design.....

....little girls!....*lol*

Am Samstagabend angefangen und gestern Abend fertig geworden:

Cynthias Geburtstagssocken zum gestrigen 6. Geburtstag, Gr. 26/27 in simplen 2 re, 2 li Muster und Opal-Regenwald Flamingowolle.

Werd wohl Mariannes bester Flamingo-kunde werden, da ich schon wieder 2 Bestellungen hab. Meine Mami und meine Donna spechteln schon ganz arg auf solche Socken.

Und Cynthia wünscht sich noch Handschuhe, Schal und Mütze mit dieser Wolle

Die verstrickte Dienstagsfrage - Woche 35/2005 Multitasking:

Wenn du gleichzeitig strickst und fernsiehst oder ein Hörbuch hörst (oder Vergleichbares), was passiert eher: du strickst wie verrückt und bekommst nicht mit, was passiert? Oder du bist so gefesselt vom Geschehen und hörst auf zu stricken?

Antwort:

Das geht beides recht gut, beim glatt rechts stricken oder Bündchenmuster muß ich nicht mehr auf die Strickerei achten und kann mich deshalb auf das Andere konzentrieren.

Anders ist es, wenn ich kunststricke (lace-knitting)....dann geht oft ein Teil der Handlung vom Film (oder ähnliches) flöten, wenn ich mich auf ein besonders aufwendiges Muster konzentrieren muss......

Bei spannenden Sachen lege ich dann schon mal die Strickerei beiseite.....aber da muss es schon SEHR SEHR spannend sein........*gggg*

Today is Cynthia's Birthday.

My little one turned 6 and is now a "BIG Girl".

Wow, how time flies!
It seems like yesterday I had to rush into hospital, because labor had started. And it seems like yesterday i had to have that d... c-section, because her little heart got into trouble.
And it seems like yesterday the doctors had a good chuckle, because my little fairy made herself a cushion out of the navel cord.

So, there we go............she is starting to grow up slowly but surely.

What is to say about my little one?
She is very lively, sweet, lovable and kind...........but also kind of stubborn.......lol
She cares for others more than other kids of that age, she always did feel empathy for the lost and suffering.

She knows to laugh about funny stuff, until her tummy hurts and also knows to cry at sad stories.

She must be the most ticklish person on earth. You can tickle her everywhere and she giggles to sweet, you just have to giggle with her........

She is a unique little girl, with a voice like Minnie Mouse .... that is why she got the Nickname "Minnie".....she knows how to charm both old and young and wrap them around her little finger.
Be aware, you just have to love her once you know her!
Well, we do!!!!

Finally.........(Endlich...)

....blocked the "Trachtentuch" ( a short lace-shawl which is mostly worn with Dirndl-Dresses in Bavaria, Germany). It is for a friend, who will wear a Dirndl at her sisters wedding on Saturday....so it was about time to get it blocked....lol.

She doesn't know about it, so I decided to let Donna (her godchild, my oldest daughter) bring it to her place tomorrow or the day after that as a surprise.

Don't let the background distract you, it's a mattress from the babybed the kids slept in before growing to big for it.....cute, huh?.

...habe ich das Trachtentuch gespannt. Es ist für eine Freundin, die am Samstag zur Hochzeit ihrer Schwester ein Dirndl (oder sowas...) tragen wird......also war es an der Zeit, es zu spannen.
Sie weiß allerdings nichts davon, also wird ihr Patenkind (meine Tochter Donna) es ihr morgen oder übermorgen als Überraschung bringen.
Laßt Euch nicht von dem Hintergrund ablenken, das ist die Matratze aus dem Baby-bett, in dem die Kinder mal geschlafen haben.....süß, gelle?

Heute hab ich mir eine "Heilerdemaske" gegönnt und musste natürlich zur Erheiterung meiner Töchter Grimassen schneiden.

Dieses hatte zur Folge, daß meine Mittlere sich die Digicam schnappte

und ein Monster auf die Festplatte bannte.

Und da ich weiß, dass Ihr auch gerne lacht, zeig ich es Euch:

Valde-Update (english:italic-darkbrown)

Wie ihr schon wisst, stricke ich wieder mal eine große Tischdecke namens "Valde".
Nun habe ich viele Socken und so'n Zeug gestrickt und wollte auch mal an der Tischdecke weiterstricken. Das habe ich getan und nun hier ein kleines Update.

As you all know I am knitting a big table-cloth called "Valde".
Since I have been knitting lots of socks lately, I just wanted to make some progress with that huge thing. So I have been knitted on it and here we go with a little update.

Ich bin gerade fertig mit Runde 119 und habe bereits 544 Maschen auf der Nadel. Für das Foto habe ich sie auf 2 Addi-Nadeln, Länge 100cm, aufgeteilt und auf dem Sofa festgesteckt.
Sie hat jetzt einen Durchmesser von 60 cm.

I just finished round 119 and there are 544 stitches on the needles already. I devided them onto 2 Addi-needles, length 39 inches, and pinned the cloth to the couch.
The table-cloth has now a diameter of 23,5 inches.

Diese Tischdecke hat 289 Runden, wenn sie fertig ist........ich schätze sie wird RIESIG!

This tablecover will have 289 knitted rounds, when it's finished.....
.....so I suppose it is going to be HUGE!

Unter Spannung....

.... ist endlich dieses gestrickte Deckchen.
Ich nenne es "Harvest-Doily" weil es mich an Weizen-Ähren erinnert.

I finally blocked this Doily I knitted.
I shall name it "Harvest-Doily", because it reminds me of Wheat ears.

Guten Morgen--Socken!

Guten Morgen Ihr Lieben!
Ich hoffe Ihr habt alle eine geruhsame Nacht gehabt und seid jetzt schön erholt und fit für einen neuen schönen Tag!

Die Kinder schlafen noch und Mama hat schon einiges geschafft haushaltsmäßig....hält aber erfahrungsgemäß nicht lange an, die Sauberkeit, wie auch mit 3 Weibsen daheim, die ihren Spaß haben wollen.....*gggg*

Ich war die letzten Tage wieder fleissig und habe Socken genadelt.........die wollte ich Euch zeigen!
Jetzt hat mich aber die Sockenflaute erwischt und ich nadele wieder an meiner Tischdecke "Valde" (erinnert Ihr Euch?). Später dazu mehr.
Aber jetzt erst mal die Socken, was gaaaaanz einfaches ohne großes Muster (einfach 2 re, 2 li das sich auf dem Spann bis zur Spitze weiterzieht = schön dehnbar!).
Einmal für meinen Daddy (eigentlich für die Weihnachtskiste, aber ich glaub das halt ich nicht aus so lange) aus Opal-Lollipop in Gr. 43

und einmal aus der selbstgefärbten Opal (die Glückswolle) für meine Kleinste in Gr. 26/27, gestern in einem Rutsch durchgestrickt.

Die verstrickte Dienstagsfrage - Woche 33/2005

Welche Wolle liegt schon am allerlängsten in deinem Vorrat?

Warum ist sie noch nicht verarbeitet (oder verkauft oder verschenkt...)?

Was soll(te) aus ihr einmal werden?

Aaaalllssssoooooo, *angestrengtnachdenk*:

Die Wolle, die am längsten in meinem Vorrat liegt, ist ein Baumwoll-Leinen-Gemisch,

das meine Mutter ursprünglich mal gekauft hatte, um sich einen Pulli zu stricken.

Ob sie sich (oder jemandem anderem) den Pulli dann gestrickt hat, weiß ich nicht mehr...

aber ich habe "die Reste" (immerhin 500 gr.) sozusagen "geerbt".

Verkauft, verschenkt oder verarbeitet ist sie deswegen noch nicht,

weil irgendwie die Projekte, die ich mit ihr plane langweilig werden.

Ursprünglich wollte ich einen Pulli für meine Tochter stricken,

doch der fiel dem Ribbelmonster zum Opfer,

nachdem der Pulli mehrere Monate als UFO sein Dasein fristete

und dann natürlich der Pulli zu klein gewesen ist.

Immerhin habe ich aber jetzt einen Teil zu dem Camisol für meine Donna verarbeitet....so sind es jetzt nur noch 300 gr.......*gggg*
