Proud Mom speaking...

Although I don't really like all the madness about Mother's Day,
I really had a nice and pleasant one today!
In my Opinion you should honour your Mum every day of the year, think of her, love her, appreciate her and on top of that: Tell her that you do!!! Every day, every week, every month, every year!
But since the kids enjoy, telling their Mummy (that's me..speaks Proud Mom), how much they love her and like to give some handmade gifts on this day, I do endure the madness....... and ....okay, I have to admit I do enjoy and love it...*giggles*

I have had a gorgeous day! First off I woke up at about 7.30 am to hear rustles and giggles in the kitchen....oh, well, Mother's Day!...i thought and went back to sleep, well aware that I would need all my strength for the cleaning up, that would come later on!
At 8.30 am the kids stood quietly giggling before my bed with fresh coffee (yummy!) and toast with orange-marmalade...woohoo!..what a nice start into the day!!
And surprise surprise, the kitchen was cleaned up..........NO MESS!......i was gabberflasted!
So I had my coffee and the toast and got up, did the things you do in the morning and was told to sit down and get my knitting out.....
.......What?????.....are they kiddin?....have they gone out of their minds???....

Then they came up with some poems and presents (pictures tomorrow, got to get new batteries for the digicam), how sweet!
(I have to admit, I had some good use of kleenex today...but don't tell anyone! Pwease!)

At 11.30 am Donna and Elena (my two "big girls") told me to knit along no matter what happens:"Relax and knit your sox, Mum, we will be doing something in the kitchen! And please: STAY OUT!"
Okay, I am a very very obedient Mum and did my thing, while carefully listening to pots and pans being tortured in the kitchen.
Finally, at 1 pm we had dinner! Yes you are reading right: The kids cooked dinner!!!!
And they really did a good job! We had seasoned rice with a turkey-dish (that's turkeybreast with tomatoes and mushrooms, nicely seasoned with "whatsoever"). It was delicious!
(Really, this is not "Proud Mom" speaking now, it really was fabulous!)
I will have to say thanks to Donna's teacher (They offered a cooking-course in school and she learned to do that dish in that course!).

After that? The kitchen? A mess!!! The table? A mess!! My hair? A mess!!!....*lol*
But the kids offered to clean the kitchen and the table, they even cleaned their rooms....
We had desert, a nice caramel-pudding, and off they went to play! Quietly!!! And me?
I was left to knit, knit, knit, knit...

It was a great day!

THANKS KIDS!!! I love you so much!

And then there is only one question left:
Can't Mother's Day be more often????

Was passiert, wenn...

....Frau (sprich: Ich) das Wort selbstgekochte Marmelade hört oder liest?
Ich sag Euch, dann kommt das Leben in die Gänge und was Supertolles passiert.

Nun ja, ich dachte nichts weiter, plötzlich habe ich eine Email im Kasten: "Na gerne doch"
Cool dachte ich mir und fing schon an mir Gedanken um das "Wie, wann, warum und was" zu machen.
Nach vielen lieben Emails hin und her, findet der Tausch nun statt. Ich freue mich wie Bolle und habe das Gefühl eine neue Freundin gefunden zu haben.
Nun muss ich aber wieder weiter, die Marmelade-gegen-Mustersocken-Socken wollen ja auch noch vollendet werden.

32 1/2 Jahre bin ich jung und es sieht so aus als ob ich mich gut halte.
Mein biologisches Alter ist 30,6 Jahre.
Ich denke, das ist ziemlich gut, vor allem wenn man bedenkt,
daß ich mich von Zeit zu Zeit wie 100 fühle...*lach*

I'm 32 1/2 years young and it seems as if I am keeping good for my age. My real age is 30, 6 years. I think that is fine, especially if you consider, that I feel like a 100 years at times....lol.

1. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with?
What fibers do you absolutely *not* like?
pure wool, mohair, merino
I don't like acrylics (pure acrylics that is), they are alright as in Sockwool

2. What do you use to store your needles/hooks in?
A little plastik drawer
I would like to get myself one of those nifty needlecases for my dpns (the ones you can roll, some make them theirselves), they are wonderful

3. How long have you been knitting? Would you consider your skill level to be beginner, intermediate or advanced?
I have been knitting for 25 years now.
at laceknitting I would consider myself an advanced knitter
Sockknitting: advanced
knitting sweaters: intermediate
Fair isle knitting: never tried, so it is none of the three...lol

4. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list?
Yes, here: (I'll add that later)

5. What's your favorite scent? (for candles, bath products etc.)
Lilac-Scent!!! (got lilacs in my wee little garden...they smell lovely!)
Lavender and Rose, Vanilla sometimes

6. Do you have a sweet tooth? Favorite candy?
Sweet tooth? are you kiddin?....I am the sweet tooth in person..
Favorite candy? JellyBabies

7. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do? Do you spin?
I don't spin as of yet (on my to learn list....sometime). I crochet, knit and do some origami with my kids (they are better at it than me... :-( ......)

8. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if your buddy wants to make you a CD)
Yes the computer/stereo plays MP3s!
Favorite music: Almost everything except Rap.
I like the music of Brian Adams, Robbie Williams (yummy!) and Phil Collins and have to admit I
can really chill out on all those "BoyBand"-Music.....lol

I absolutely love "The Corrs" and Irish Music !
And classical music, when I need to recover from a hard day.

9. What's your favorite color? Or--do you have a color family/season/palette you prefer? Any colors you just can't stand?
My alltime favorite colour is Magenta and all that are in that colour family (lilac, violet, pink, hot pink...etc.)
But I also love blues and greens and orange/yellow (like sunflowers!).
I love beige and the natural colour of sheep-wool. Black is fabulous too.

I absolutely HATE brown and grey! (they are soooo dull)

10. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets?
I am a singlemom, got 3 beautiful and very helpful girls, which are 10, 8 and 6 years old
We got a budgie named Hansi. He is about 12 years old (or even more) and a cute little guy.

11. Do you wear scarves, hats, mittens or ponchos?
Scarves=yes in winter ;-)
Hats= NO (big no=>I hate them...)
Mittens=yes
Ponchos=Never tried actually, but I think they are pretty cool

12. What is/are your favorite item/s to knit?
Doilies, Tablecloths, Socks and Shawls

13. What are you knitting right now?
3 different tablecloths, 1 mystershawl3, 1 Kiri, several different socks

14. Do you like to receive handmade gifts?
Certainly! I love them!

15. Do you prefer straight or circular needles? Bamboo, aluminum, plastic?
Circular needles (or dpns for socks). Bamboo, Rosewood, Ebony

16. Do you own a yarn winder and/or swift?
No

17. How did you learn to knit?
My Mum taught me, when I was about 6 or so (the british way). In school I learned to knit using the continental method.
You see I know to knit both ways (so Fair Isle should not be a problem....what is stopping me?)

3 years old

19. What is your favorite holiday?
Easter

20. Is there anything that you collect?
Sheep in all variations, that is Sheep-cups, Sheepcards, Ceramic-sheep....and the lot....;-)

21. Any books, yarns, needles or patterns out there you are dying to get your hands on? What knitting magazine subscriptions do you have?

Please see the wishlist (when I added it...lol). No magazine subscriptions here, I always get the mags I want from the Papershop (the owner knows what I want and puts them aside for me...he's a good boy...lol)

22. Are there any new techniques you'd like to learn?

Maybe I should get my guts together and try Fair Isle one of these days

Sock-knitter? Certainly!

...die Prüfungen sind vorbei und ich fühle mich wieder frei!

Die MS-Office Prüfung wurde schon angeschaut und kontrolliert und benotet.

Zeit um Anzugeben: Ich habe 97,69 Prozent!
So, das ist dann eine klare Note "1"!

Ich bin sooooooo glücklich!



....the exams are finished and I am feeling free again!

The MS-Office Exam has already been looked at and checked and marked.

Time to boast: I got 97,69 percentage.
So that is a clear "A" grade!

I am soooooooo happy!

Heute...

Heute lief es recht gut =>MSOffice-Prüfung (Access, Excel, Word, Serienbrief, Rechnungen erstellen und mit Formeln bestücken, Datenbanken entwerfen und erstellen, Formulare, Abfragen.....etc), hinterher war es als ob man eine Tonnenlast von mir abgenommen hätte.
Morgen kommt noch der zweite Teil:Theorie und webdesign.
Und dann kann ich fliegen...

Besonderer Dank gilt Dipsy und Annette aka Wollsocke, die immer wieder bei mir hier reinschauen und liebe Kommentare hinterlassen.
Ich bin so froh über Kommentare und so, das tut mir so gut!
Heute haben die beiden ganz feste die Daumen gedrückt und gute Gedanken geschickt.

Stöckchen-Mein Desktop

Extra für "Das Miest", weil mir ihr blog so gut gefällt, habe ich mir das Stöckchen gekrallt und möchte Euch hier zeigen, was ich auf dem Desktop habe.

War ja wohl klar, daß ich einen Desktopcalendar von meiner Mam drauf habe...oder?

Finished over the weekend..another pair of socks with the
pomatomus-pattern, this time for my middle-daughter Elena. ->

<- And I let the pirate-sneakers for my daughter Donna celebrate their wedding (=one sock was finished for a long time and now I knitted the second one to it).

Am Wochenende fertig gestellt..noch ein Sockenpaar mit dem Pomatomus-muster, dieses Mal für meine mittlere Tochter Elena.
Und ich konnte die Piraten-sneakers für meine Tochter Donna verheiraten.

Both of them were soooo happy, it made them model the socks in a very special way for me.

Die beiden waren sooo glücklich, da haben sie auf ganz besondere Weise für mich Model gestanden. Seht mal:

And then I started the THIRD pair of Pomatomus-socks ...yeah, you've heard/read right...the 3rd pair. Gosh, I just love this pattern! I have cast on 60 stitches using a pure luxury sockyarn (a wool/silk-blend), using my rosewood dpns. Aaaaaawwww, this is so great!
These are going to be the birthday-socks for my Mum (click to view her homepage), who will turn "SWEET 50" on Saturday! I sure hope she is going to like them as much as I do while knitting them.

Und dann habe ich mein DRITTES Paar Pomatomus-socken angefangen...jaaa, ihr hört/lest richtig..das 3. Paar. Boah, ich liebe dieses Muster einfach! Ich habe 60 Maschen angeschlagen mit einem absoluten Luxusgarn (70% Schurwolle, 30%Seide), mit meinen Rosenholz-Nadelspiel. Oooooooh, das ist so super!
Diese Socken sind für meine Ma (klick um ihre homepage anzuschauen), die am Samstag "SÜßE 50" wird! Ich hoffe wirklich, daß sie ihr genauso gut gefallen wie mir während des Strickens.

Natürlich möchte ich wieder mit dabei sein..
Ich freu mich wie Bolle!!
Die letzte Aktion war so schön und trotz unserer Anfangspatzer hat dann alles super geklappt und meine Wollprinzessin Svenja, meine Wollfee Andrea aka fischle und ich hatten eine Superschöne Zeit. Ich bin begeistert über Luna und Cleo, die wieder die Organisation übernehmen. Mädels, Ihr seid Spitze!

Die verstrickte Dienstagsfrage - Woche 16/2006

Das Wollschaf hofft, das wir schöne Ostertage verbracht haben und hatte heute als Osterei eine interessante Frage von Irene :

Für welche Zielgruppe strickst Du am liebsten und warum? Ist es:
a) für die Familie
b) für Arbeitskollegen und Bekannte
c) für Basare, Tombolas, etc.
d) für Dich selbst.

Aaaaalso:
Ich stricke am liebsten für Zielgruppe a), b) und c).
Warum?
a) bei der Familie kann ich die Sachen sehen und öfter mal nachfragen feedback bekommen
b) für Kollegen und Bekannte: weil die sich doch auch freuen, wenn sie etwas zu Geburtstagen oder so bekommen und oft echt super-erfreut sind.
c) für Basare und Tombolas, weil es einem guten Zweck zugute kommt und ich das Gefühl habe, auch einen kleinen Teil zur Hilfe beitragen zu können.

Für mich selbst stricke ich eher selten, weil nach a), b) und c) keine Zeit mehr dafür bleibt. Aber das ist nicht weiter schlimm, mich selbst kann ich ja nicht wirklich strahlen sehen.

Was ich aber sehr liebe, sind so Sockenwichteleien (wie z.B. Sock'o'motion) oder die Wollfee und Secret Pal Aktionen.
Was mich wieder drauf bringt:
Ich würde so gerne mal mit jemandem eine Art "Sockentausch" (ich strick für dich und du für mich..) starten, hat jemand Lust da drauf?
