Girl's Day 2009

Heute war "Girl's Day - Mädchenzukunftstag".
Statt zur Schule zu gehen, durfte meine Große heute bei Fujisu
(bis vor kurzem "Fujitsu-Siemens") in typische Männerberufe reinschnuppern,
um zu testen, ob sie später mal einen technischen oder naturwissenschaftlichen Beruf ergreifen möchte.

Sie hatte viel Spaß und einiges zu erzählen.
Donna und noch 29 andere Mädchen machten eine Rallye durch's Firmengelände, durften löten, eine Computerverpackung designen und haben ein elektrisches Geschicklichkeitsspiel gebastelt. Zwischendurch wurden sie mit gutem Essen versorgt und hatten einfach viel Spaß.
Alles in allem war es eine tolle Erfahrung und sie konnte gute Einblicke gewinnen.

Today was "Girl's Day" in Germany.
Girls from age 12 onwards didn't have to go to school but went to learn more about technical a.k.a. "men's" occupations in different firms around Germany. My daughter Donna got a spot in the firm "Fujitsu" (former "Fujitsu-Siemens"). They learned lots of stuff and had a great time.

Nicht mehr lange, dann feiern wir Cynthia's ERSTE HEILIGE KOMMUNION.
Kind und Mutter sind schon sehr aufgeregt!

Not long and we will celebrate Cyn's FIRST HOLY COMMUNION.
Child and mother are very excited!

Wow, it finally arrived:
The much anticipated Blogoversary!

4 Years of Melly's LacePlace

I took the time in the past 2 days to look back onto these 4 years
and even read some really old posts.

So we have had funny times, angry times, sad times and also happy times...
Life served us a whole arrangement of different emotions, new experiences
and things to be learned! We have come a long way in these past 4 years...
and we have grown...emotionally, physically and also spiritually!

We went from occasional posts about things happening in our lifes to showing progress of "Knitter stuff" to "Learning How to" design sock patterns.

I am very thankful for the last 4 years and all the nice people I have met
and all the nice friends I have made here through this blog!

I want to thank each one of you for visiting, commenting,
encouraging me and also enduring my, sometime a bit goofy antics...*lol*

You guys all abso-knitting-lutely rock and you make all of this worthwhile!

Finally! / Na endlich!

Our DVD-copy of the Twilight movie finally arrived today!!

Because it is an UK-Import from Am*zon we had to wait a little longer and it was very hard to wait on it. But now it's here and we are very happy.

Woohoo, now we can feed our addiction!

The German synchronization of the movie will take awhile so it won't be available for another 2 months here in Germany. But who cares for that, it sounds so odd in German ... so we just stick to OUR language...

Tulip-doily or -tablecloth

As I told you yesterday I started a new piece of lace.

A beautiful lace doily or tablecloth (depends on size I will be making).

I made one picture on round 35, now I am on round 42.

Distracted

So, I started to knit this beautiful piece of lace yesterday...

It's a Tulip Table topper by Erich Engeln (it's leaflet No. 24, if you are interested)
Very intriguing and very very beautiful...I can imagine it already on our table...

Well, I started to knit and went straight through to round 35 and I was very happy about it...
until...
I realized that I only had 4 chart repeats instead of 8.
Somewhere in round 3-7 I made a mistake...

A MISTAKE?
IN LACE KNITTING?
ME????

O.M.G. I must have been deep in thoughts and daydreaming far too much
and got distracted along the way...

what a shame...I wanted to show you photos today!!!

I had to rip it back and am going to start again tonight *sigh*

So I will update with pix tomorrow...
