A tribute...

...to a wonderful bird!

Today at 8.20 pm our dear budgie "Sammy" (short for Samantha) left us und went over the "Rainbow-bridge" into animal-paradise.

She was a wonderful bird, content, strong and lively.
She had bright and shiny green feathers, she was so beautiful!

At first she and our male budgie "Hansy" wouldn't adapt and they had some fights, but after a while they started to be friends and then even sweet partners. We will not forget the many times we tiptoed through the livingroom, because they were "kissing".....*lol*
Hansy has been very very quiet since sunday, not giving a loud sound as if he was feeling already that Sammy would pass away.

The vet said it was "going light syndrome" she was suffering off, an illness that can't be cured at the moment. The birds do eat and feel well, but they loose weight and in the end they are just too weak to live on.

The kids and I are devastated and we ask you all for your prayers and good thoughts.
Please light a candle especially for my daughters, they really are suffering!

Die verstrickte Dienstagsfrage - Woche 43/2005

Wenn ihr eine Strickzeitschrift oder ein Strickbuch das erste Mal durchblättert, fallen euch die Modelle in euren Lieblingsfarben zuerst auf und die Modelle in den "Hass"-Farben überseht ihr? Strickt ihr bevorzugt Modelle, die in euren Lieblingsfarben abgebildet sind?

Aaaaaalso, ich schau mir die Farben fast nie an, sondern das Muster.

Hassfarben überseh ich grundsätzlich und versuche (ich hab ja 'ne Menge Fantasie) mir das Ganze in Lieblingsfarben vorzustellen.

Aber:

Wenn es zur Ausführung kommt, wähle ich meist die Modelle in Lieblings- und/oder Neutralfarben.

Ehrlich:

Manche Sachen, die die Verlage so bringen sind ja auch wirklich grottenschlecht,

was die Farbwahl angeht....oder nicht?

Es fragt wie immer das neugierige Wollschaf

Candleflame and other stories...

At "Marianne's Stricktreffen" on October 1rst,

one of the girls was knitting a wonderful shawl called CandleFlame,

so I asked Claudia(that's her name) where she got the pattern from and she sent me the link after the meeting. Thanks Sweetie!

So.............now I am infected with the CF-Virus!
I am knitting it for a very good friend as a X-mas gift ..... no I can't tell you, who it is, because I don't know whether she has a peep into my blog once in awhile....and she could find out and we don't want that to happen....or do we?
NO, DEFINITELY NOT!!!!

So no avail on that information.....hey, don't ask....I am not not not going to tell you!!! *rofl*

Not finished yet, but getting there.....slowly but surely!

Ich stricke ihn als Weihnachtsgeschenk für eine sehr liebe Freundin ..... nein, ich kann Euch nicht verraten, wer sie ist, weil ich nicht weiß, ob sie nicht doch manchmal hier im Blog vorbeischaut....und sie könnte ja Wind von der Sache bekommen und wir wollen doch nicht, daß das passiert....oder wollen wir das?

NEIN, GANZ BESTIMMT NICHT!!!!

Sorry folks for not writing for such a long time now, but this chick has been very very busy..

I am working on my newest projects:

Christmas-presents!!!

Yes, yes, yes....: Christmas is coming up really quick this year and I am really looking forward to it! I have had my first "Lebkuchen" of the year about a week ago and it really really got me into the mood. I am looking forward to all the goodies and to baking Christmas-cookies (alltime favorite: Vanille-Kipferl, a bavarian speciality! Little cookies formed like small moons and covered with white "sugar"-snow.....yummy!

Yes, I am really working hard on them and things are really really looking good until now (who knows, my luck may change....hopefully not!)

I hope you all have been doing well and have been knitting as much as I have

...and sharing the joy!

Oh, i have spread the knitting-virus and got infected by the "Candleflame-Shawl"-virus, but this is just another story to tell you......woooohooooo!

I promise there will be some photos tomorrow, as I have a lot to show you!

Marianne, die Donna hat sich soooooooo gefreut, daß Du ihre Wichtelmama warst und findet die Socken schlicht: "OBERCOOL" (siehe Foto)
Die Socken sind schon fest mit ihren Füßen verwachsen und werden wohl erst im Dunkelgrauen Zustand sich von selbigen lösen......*gacker*
Sie schickt Dir dicke Knuddler und liebe Grüsse und freut sich schon Dich persönlich beim Treffen drücken zu dürfen. Die Farben sind absolut der Hit und sie hat schon gefragt, ob es diese Wolle noch gibt.....*lach*....Mein Kind halt, genauso crazy wie die Mami....*gacker*

Und nun zu Meiner-Einer:
Ela,

Du absolut affenstarkes liebes süßes und saumäßig cooles "Sweetchick"!!!!
Die Socken sind sowas von toll, ich sitz hier und heule Rotz und Wasser.

Vor allem, weil ich grad einen Sockenwollrest in ebendieser Farbe für Frühchen verstrickt hab und mich die ganze Zeit gefragt hab, ob es diese Wolle wohl noch gibt.

Und dann kamen Deine (Jetzt:MEINE) Socken und ich saß erstmal und konnte nur knuddeln und flennen vor lauter Glück.

Und dann die Broadripples....die hab ich nämlich auch gestrickt für mein Wichtel (Babs) und mir vorgenommen, die mal für mich zu stricken.....wie gesagt:

mal......also: NIE, weil keine Zeit.....*giggle*
Die Socken sind jetzt an meinen "extra-frischgewaschenen" Füßen und wärmen wunderbar....und passen tun sie wie angegossen und weich sind sie auch!!!!

Wie Weihnachten....(die erste)

....haben sich gerade eben Elena und Cynthia gefühlt, als sie ihre Wichtelpäckchen ausgepackt haben.....die sind heute angekommen!
Die beiden waren nämlich doppelt bedacht worden (wie Marianne schon damals angekündigt hatte....).....ich hätte nie gedacht, daß das meine Mäuse sind, die doppelt bekommen....juhuh!
Entsprechend waren auch die Gesichter strahlend und die Socken gleich an den Füßen....hihihihi....und jetzt wird gerade alle 5 Minuten gewechselt..*gacker*

Ja weil heute, einfach so, in meinem Briefkasten ein kleiner Umschlag lag mit 10 EURO drin.

Durch die ganzen Schulzeugkosten sieht es ziemlich schlecht aus in unserem Geldbeutel

und da hat sich wohl jemand entschlossen, uns ein wenig unter die Arme zu greifen.

She chose "Stars 'n' Stripes"-Wool from Opal and they turned out so nice.

She is very proud and had to wear them for school straight-away......lol...

Back to School !

Finally!

Back to School after a long holiday (6 weeks for the kids, 13 years for me).....lol....

Well, I started School yesterday and I must say i am very very happy about going to school again. My fellow students and i are right now adjusting to the new situation and making friends already.

WE are all single-moms and this year of school is all about computers, MS-office, html, ecommerce etc.

The teachers are trying to boost our self-esteem and give us a good basic knowledge about computers and a new chance to find a good job!

Very nice people are in school, indeed!

I am very happy!

My kids:
Donna was sick today and couldn't attend first day of "Back to school", she wasn't very happy about that! She is in 4.Grade now.
Elena went to school singing and laughing and came back as happy as a little bumble-bee.
Elena really takes after her Mum (that's me...lol), she loves going to school and just can't get enough of it. She loves reading and writing, Maths and all..........she is a born learner!....I just can't help but being proud of her. She has started 2. Grade.
Cynthia is on her last year of Kindergarten and very happy to have one year of playing left.
She is now, what they call a "Preschool"-kid in Germany (last year in Kindergarten with special training for "real" school).

Happy Birthday to me?...Definitely!

Yes, today is the BIG DAY: My 32. Birthday!
Woohoo, i love Birthdays!
Especially, when dear Knitter-Friends turn up to celebrate with me. My wool-provider Marianne and Michael and Ute came to knit, talk, eat cake (we had apfelstrudel...yummy) and have fun with me.

Here we are (I am the one in black in the middle):

Donna and Lydia also came by to wish me luck for the "new year" of my life and many many dear friends called to say "Happy Birthday".

My daughter Donna saved her pocketmoney to buy me those expensive, extra luxurious ebony-needles.......she is such a doll!

It was a great day and we laughed a lot and for the time being I could forget all my worries!

Thanks to all, who made this day so special!

So then here are the birthday-gifts:

Look what I've got......(Schaut mal was ich bekommen hab..)

As you all know (do you?), I am going back to school on Sept. 12 and am going to learn lots of good stuff for computering and interneting, which will "hopefully" make me able to get a better job in the future.
To be honest I am pretty scared though, cause I just can't imagine how i will manage school, housework, homework from school, raising three kids alone (2 of which are going to school too and the third one is in Kindergarten)........okay, well I know how to do that...but all together at once? Oh sheesh........
I talked to a good friend of mine (also called Donna, just as my daughter) about my fears and she encouraged me so much in the past 4 weeks. Yesterday, she came over to wish me good luck once again and brought a litte gift-cone with her.

For this you should know, that preschoolers in Germany, who start with 1. grade, are gifted by their parents, relatives or friends with a huge "Schultüte" (schoolstart-giftcone) on their first day in school.

Since it has been a long time since I have been to school, she thought it would be appropriate to give me a "Schultüte" for my first day as well. I couldn't hold back my tears and was so overwhelmed.......Isn't that just sweet?

Wie ihr alle wisst (wisst ihr das?...*grübel*), fange ich am 12. September wieder mit der Schule an. Ich werde alles über Computer und Internet lernen, das ich später mal im Job brauchen könnte und hoffe so einen guten Job in der Zukunft zu bekommen.
Um ehrlich zu sein, habe ich doch ziemliche Angst vor diesem Schritt, vor allem bei der Vorstellung, wie ich alles unter einen Hut bekommen soll...die Schule, die Hausarbeit, die Hausaufgaben und dann noch die Drei (von denen 2 auch zur Schule gehen und eines in der Vorschule im Kindergarten ist)alleine großzuziehen...naja, alleine erziehen, das geht schon ......aber alles zusammen und möglichst gleichzeitig?....Oh weiah!....

Also hab ich mich bei einer guten Freundin ausge"kotzt", die übrigens auch Donna heißt so wie meine Tochter und sie hat mich ermutigt und immer wieder aufgebaut in den letzten 4 Wochen. Gestern kam sie rüber, um mir nochmals Glück zu wünschen und hat mir eine kleine Schultüte gebracht.

Normalerweise gibt es das ja nur für Schulanfänger, aber ich war ja schon lang nicht mehr zur Schule, also dachte sie das wäre angebracht.

Ich konnte die Tränen nicht zurückhalten, so überwältigt war ich....aber urteilt selbst .....Ist das nicht zuckersüß? (siehe oben!)
