Eastereggs and "shawly" treats ...

So there! 

No chocolate-eastereggs for poor Miss Melly this year, but instead ... 

and I have to admit, that this is soooo much better than chocs
(but *shshsh* don't tell my parents, who gave this "easter-treat" to me!)  ... 

I got a pattern!!! From my parents!!! Now how cool is that??? :-D

"A lovely and great and nice and pleasing to the eye" pattern ...

a shawl pattern! (oh!--oh!)

 - fellow knitters who really DO know me will be thinking: 
"A shawl pattern for Miss Melly? Well....good luck with that, it will never get finished" -

Not really being a shawl-knitter (and -wearer)  and also living up to that reputation
(abso-knitting-lutely sticking to that!)
I really do enjoy looking at all those really nice shawls and shawlettes
and scarfs and wraps and "knick-knacks" on various pattern-pages
and also have been caught putting them into my queue on Ravelry,
but only once in a while  seldom I really manage gathering the guts
and patience to knit one. - insert "like never" into this sentence without saying it loud ... lol .. -

But this one is different 
and it is bound to change something in my knitterly-life:

 Dubliner 

I did some stash-diving and found some yarn I liked  and could use for it

and started on April 9th...and had fun!!! I really did!!! :-D

After 5 repeats of the "body-chart"

Now how surprising is that?

I have to say: Not too surprising at all!!!

It IS a very nice pattern, completely reversible when finished
and the lace edgings and the cable-part of the shawl are bound to keep my "knitting-ADS" at bay ;-)

LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT KNIT??? DEFINITELY!!!

And here we go....-whooping 4 days later- on April 12th:

HEUREKA! IT IS FINISHED!!

drying after washing - didn't block it, but instead chose to just pull it into shape and let it dry over night

FINISHED! dreary day, so no "outside" pictures:-(

I used about 130 grams of OPAL Cotton 4-ply Sockyarn and 3,5 mm circular needles.
I did 12 increase chart-repeats and 10 body chart-repeats and then 12 decrease chart-repeats :-D

And my Mum absolutely loves it! :-D

... so she says anyway ...

Und dann...

... kam noch ein Paket.

Es ist von Susanne aka nadelfee und prall gefüllt mit roten und rot-weißen Weihnachtspäckchen,

die wir erst zu Weihnachten öffnen werden.

Hier sieht man nur die oberste Schicht, da sind noch zwei Schichten drunter!
Allein das Papier ist so wunderschön, das mir das Herz ganz weich und warm wird.

Die Fotos vom Inhalt muß ich halt dann nachreichen.

Aber die Augen meiner Mädels, das sag ich Euch,
die haben schon heute so gestrahlt als ob Weihnachten und Ostern zusammen wäre.

Liebe Susanne, das ist ja kein Päckchen sondern ein ausgewachsenes Paket!
Die Mädels sind schon gespannt wie Flitzebogen und wünschten es wäre schon HeiligAbend.
Und ich freu mich so sehr, das kannst Du Dir garnicht vorstellen!

Unverhofft....

... kommt manchmal oft...

Heute kam ein tolles Paket zu mir.
Es war von Catrin und sie hat es vorsorglich gleich als "Sofort öffnen" gekennzeichnet.

Der erste Blick hinein:

Schnell das Oberpapier entfernt....ooooh so schöne Sächelchen....

Und nun ausgebreitet: Leckerer Cappucino für mich und Hallorenkugeln und lecker Wöllchen, ganz selbstgefärbt von "dear Catrin herself" und noch etwas Hüftgold.
Fast hätte ich den tollen Wintertee vergessen, wir lieben lieben lieben Tee!

Aber am besten gefallen hat mir die kleine Nikolaus-stiefel-kerze *lach*

(bin ich blöde? nichts ist besser als TOLLE WOLLE!!!)

Und die Farben vom oberen Strang passen voll gut zu meinem Energiebild vom Zauberglöckchen siehe rechts

Für die Kinder gab es Bambina-Schokolade und Ha**bo Weihnachtsgummis

DANKE liebe Catrin aus der tiefsten Tiefe meines kleinen Herzchens!
Du hast mich sehr überrascht und mir Riesenfreude bereitet!
Und den Mädels erst, die Schoki ist schon vertilgt und die Gummis werden schon gierig angeschmachtet....*lach*

Und wegen dem Wasserschaden in meinem Wohnzimmer (wegen der Tränenflut),
da sprechen wir uns noch.....das sag ich Dir! *lachenddroh*

Heute...

...hat meine Postbotin bei mir geklingelt und mir ein Brieflein
mit dem folgenden Inhalt von Regina überreicht:

Ein japanisches Knotentäschlein mit Oma Wolle vorne drauf für mein Strickzeug!
Ist die nicht wunderschön?

Und so praktisch, ich kann das Täschlein über das Handgelenk legen
und mein Strickzeug immer bei mir haben.
Auf jeden Fall besser als die "Geschenktaschen" aus Plastik,
die ich bisher immer benutzt habe......ich freu mich so!

Liebe Regina, ich habe mich sehr gefreut
und die Tasche wird mich nun überallhin begleiten.

So eine Superfreude!

Gerade hat bei mir der Postbote zweimal geklingelt.....

Grinsend überreichte er mir ein Päckchen, wunderschön verziert mit Glückstickern.
Ein Blick auf den Absender offenbarte mir dann,

Neue Bücher....

....habe ich zum Geburtstag bekommen.

2 Strickbücher und einen Roman von Noah Gordon.

Nämlich dieses von meiner Omi:Wie schon das erste "Big Girl"-Buch einfach nur toll und so schöne Ideen!

Und diese von meinen Eltern:
Der Katalane ist schon angelesen und liest sich wieder einmal (wie alles von Noah Gordon)
schon von Anfang an interessant und fesselnd.

Die Strickbücher sind einfach klasse, vor allem das Schal-Strickbuch hat es wirklich in sich.
Da gibt es Designs drin, davon denkt man garnicht, daß das stricktechnisch umsetzbar ist.
Oh, weh....
meine Große hat gerade drin gestöbert und da kommt nur
"Cool", "Krass" und "Der ist aber schön".....
ich sehe schon, das gibt Schals zu Weihnachten dieses Jahr *lol*

The day didn't start to well for us, Elena Frances (my middle daughter) woke up with a terrible headache and couldn't go to school.

I had much work to do, the household had to suffer a bit in the last few days, because I was knitting to much ... *lol*... so I had to work hard to catch up with all my chores.

But then.........and this is just to sweet for words

I went to my mailbox and there was a great surprise waiting for me!

Sharon sent me a puffy with a crocheted angel inside of it........wow, I was stunned, had goose-pimples and (of course) was crying my eyes out.
(I always cry...when I am sad, when I am overwhelmed, when I am happy....)

Here is what she wrote:

Heute habe ich einen Engel aus Kanada bekommen, einfach so als Willkommensgeschenk für die neue Gruppe, in die ich eingetreten bin.

So eine tolle Überraschung!

Ich bin sehr überwältigt, vor allem weil der Tag für uns nicht sehr gut begonnen hatte
und ich ziemlich am Boden war.
Aber jetzt habe ich wieder Auftrieb, solche Überraschungen sind einfach toll!

...finde ich es von unserer lieben Kristin, daß sie ihre Kunststrickhefte aussortiert hat und auf meinen Kommentar in Ihrem blog hin, an mich gedacht hat.
So konnte ich heute ganz ganz tolle "neue" (hey, die sind wirklich wie neu! wow!) Kunststrickhefte in meine Sammlung aufnehmen.
Und eine ganz ganz süße Sheepworld-Karte mit meinem neuen Motto: "Alles wird gut!" war auch dabei...die hängt jetzt über meinem Computertisch!

Die "Schreie" der Verzückung könnt Ihr Euch sicher vorstellen....die Kids fanden's urkomisch! *grins*
Ich sitze nun hier, grinse wie ein Honigkuchenpferd und freue mich über diese liebe Gabe!

Here are the Birthday-socks for my Dad:

I used 2 strands of sockyarn (one was dark-red, one natural) on 4 mm broomsticks needles to make them warm and cozy for him. On the sides i added a little cable, which is not really visible, but it prevented boredom while knitting.
Size is 43

And because I believe in what i am saying (Mother's Day should be every day of the year and not only on "Mother's Day"!!)
i knitted a washcloth for my Mum to show her how much I love her!

Some (hopefully) "fashionable" aka COOL Stuff for the Barbie-dolls of Cynthia.

I just figured, as clothing for that doll is so expensive, it would be a great gift to make some new stuff for her plus it uses up all that leftover yarns from sockknitting.
A Cocktail-dress is still in progress....oh and yes... a princess-outfit has been requested

Svenja sent me a great surprise. She must have been very happy with me as her wool-fairy last year and since we really got a good connection since then, she sent me a belated X-mas present.
Look, I got very very nice socks from her...just the way i like them, btw....:

and some gorgeous wool, looks like handpainted and handspun....i don't know what i will do with it yet...but there will be time for "wool-talking-to-me" later on...lol
And she sent me a very nice X-mas-Tree, which i can keep up all year long:

And (yes there is more....) she sent "Diddl-Angel"-figures for the kiddies, they absolutely love them!
