Paraphernalia ..

Never before I have been so sad to see a pair of socks "leave" my needles.
The pattern just seemed to flow off my hands and it was the first pattern in years
that I followed straight as it was written without adding my very own "twirly-whirlies".
Plus: I am eating my heart out, because they are not for me :-(
... nope
they are for my middle-daughtie....
X-mas-present-socks. (which also makes me happy at the same time....lol)

was mich dann auch schon wieder glücklich macht *grins*

Handarbeitliche Details:
Aktiv-Sockenwolle von www.supergarne.de
2,5 mm Veilchenholznadeln von Holz und Stein
Muster: Paraphernalia von Taina Anttila

Ausgestellt ... (english right at bottom)

ENGLISH:
One of my daughter Elena's drawings is showcased in school.
I took some pictures today and I wanted to show them.
The art-teacher bought fresh flower-branches for the girls to draw
and Elena's sketch of it was one of the 6 best.
I am soo proud of my 12-year old (okay...soon to be 13 year old...lol) :-D

The pictures in cartoon-style are some of her "at home" drawings.
She calls them "supergirl" and "the sisters"

also aufgeribbelt und ad acta gelegt :-(

Handarbeitliche Daten:

Beret aus "Not just more socks"
Wolle: Regia Galaxy Color
Nadeln: 3,5 mm
Arbeitszeit: 10 Stunden in 3 Jahren *schäm*

I bow... / Ich verbeuge mich...

... before his talent :-)
We have seen Alex Jacobowitz about 10 years ago in Munich and I was so impressed.

He is not only an extremly charismatic person, but also very nice and friendly.
He answered all our questions and even signed the 2 CD's I bought :-D

This morning I found the CD's on the shelf ...
I was looking for some "pick-me-up"-music ...
and remembered how we stood about an hour watching and listening to "his" music.

So...I thought I might share this with you:

The simple woman's daybook

FOR TODAY

Outside my window...
it's gray and wet :-(

I am thinking...
how nice it would be if the sun would come out
and put her light upon the lovely autumnal leaves of the trees and give us some warmth.

I am thankful for...
heaters, hand knitted socks and warm cappuccino

From the kitchen...
pancakes with jam for dinner?

I am wearing...
two pairs of hand knitted socks (my feet are soo cold today) and my P.J.'s (yep, I didn't get dressed yet)

I am remembering...
the wood and coal-fired stove which we had when I was small, one of my neighbours has one and the smell always brings back the memories of hot chocolate after school in the kitchen :-D
I am creating...
bright yellow "paraphernalia-socks" are on my needles ...
they will be a X-mas present for my middle daughter.

I am going...
to have to do some laundry, I have been awfully lazy in the last few days :-(

I am reading...
"SixteenMoons" by Kami Garcia

I am hoping...
that my middle daughter will do well in the German-test today (essay about feelings .. yuck)

I am hearing...
my budgies making some noise ... lots of noise in fact :-D

Around the house...
I don't want to think about all the work I have to do this week...

One of my favorite things...
is .... hmmmh...it would have to be my coffee machine at this time of the day.

A few plans for the rest of the week:
3 important appointments, which will have some serious impact on our family's future

On my mind...
the mother of my friend Tanja H.(we used to be best friends during our teenage-years, but lost touch .. ), who died of Breast Cancer 14 years ago. During BCA-Month I have to think about her a lot, I miss her very much!

Noticing that...
it's only 1 week to payday (about time!)

Pondering these words...
"But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded." (2 Chronicles 15 verse 7)

Here is picture for thought I am sharing
...do this (picture above)
and you will get something along the lines of that (picture below)Explanation:
Sock knitting can (doesn't have to though) be very tedious and boring,
especially when you are kntting "sans pattern", which means stockinette socks only,
and if you have to do LARGE socks (for the men in your life)....
but it is worth the effort, the reward is tremendous:
Not only do you have a gift to give, which will warm the recipient's feet more efficiently
than "store-bought" socks and will let them know they are so loved,
that you have spent your "precious" time on making something just for them,
but you have also the gratification of having created something with your own hands.
Plus: You can ponder over things you would never think about while doing something else.
It's really calming ....
(except when you're running late e.g. Birthday is tomorrow and you're not finished yet...LOL)

So hang in there and don't give up! :-D

Freitagsfüller Nr. 82

New: 6 Word Saturday (on Friday...LOL)

3 Girls: Lots of trouble? NO!

Actually living with my 3 girls is lots of fun!
Sometimes things get really crazy, but we always manage to sort things out.
Whenever my teenage daughter or her "tween"-sisters get really "bitchy" I just release my own inner teenager, bark back at them and then it's like LOL....O.M.G. ... Mom can be "like that" too.
And then....yes then....we say our sorries and give each other a great hug. It's great, because it really "cleans" the air and the atmosphere at home is very good after that. (we try not to do that too often though...LOL)

Drei am Donnerstag Nr. 41

1. Hast du ein Lebensmotto?

Nr. 1: "If you can't beat them, join them"

Nr. 2: "There is a method in my madness"
("Meine Verrücktheit hat Methode")

und neuerdings hinzugekommen:
"Lächeln und winken" oder "Lächeln und nicken"

2. Für was in deinem Leben bist du am dankbarsten?

HaHa, ich könnte ja jetzt ganz pauschal schreiben "Für meine Mädels",
aber bäääh ... die mag ich nicht ... LOL ... die liebe ich nämlich abgöttisch! ;-P

22 leaves on Model

Donna agreed to be the model for some more "22leavesshawlette" pics :-D

Nadeln: 4,5 mm (hatte keine 4er frei)
Genuß garantiert :-D
Und NUR FÜR MICH GANZ ALLEINE! JAWOHL!

Thank you, Lankakomero, for a great pattern and a great knitting time!
That was fun indeed! :-D

Gruselig...
